Hello :)
My name is Julia Daintree - a Christian artist who enjoys recreating God's beautiful, natural world with a splash of extra colour, primarily using watercolour and acrylics. I am constantly in awe of the world around me and can get very excited about the tiny and the extreme, the plants, the animals, the oceans and all natural landscapes. I enjoy creating these works of art but am always aware of the true Maker of it all. So here is my offering - Made for the Maker.
I am selling original artwork, prints and cards, alongside a small range of other gifts which have my designs printed on them. I do not have an online shop, but you can often find me at local markets, and you can always email me with any orders.

MY JOURNEY AS AN ARTIST
In September 2019 I gave up a long and enjoyable teaching career to launch my own business running community choirs, alongside private music teaching. This was all wonderful for five months but then everything was closed down in March 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. This was devastating to me.
Music teaching was able to continue online to a certain extent, but the closure of my choirs left a huge void in my life, as well as my income! I have always enjoyed painting but had not done anything to be shared publicly since my A-Level many years ago. I offered my services via Facebook to paint commissions for friends and family, and when they shared what I had done for them, more and more commissions came in. More than the money, this gave me a huge sense of purpose again, and I just loved the feeling of delivering a finished painting to a friend and seeing their delight as I handed it over. Painting was instrumental to my improving mental health during this time.
My paintings during lockdown were primarily using acrylic on canvas.
Here a a few photos of the finished artworks.
The choirs were able to re-open September 2021 and have been going from strength to strength :)
When I was working more hours again there was much less time for painting big canvasses, so I taught myself how to work with watercolours. These took less space, less time and I loved the way the paints had a life of their own. I'm not really sure how, but I seemed to develop my own 'mosaic' style of painting and was able to use this to represent all sorts of animals. There is enough sorrow in the world, and it felt good to be painting some colourful little animals.
More recently I have wanted to share my art by selling prints, cards and gifts, hoping that these little creatures will light up some other homes and special occasions with a splash of colour. I absolutely love running my market stall!
Thank you for reading this and sharing my art journey with me.
God bless you :)
